Facts about the Asian Elephant

The Asian elephant is considered to be the largest mammal that lives on land on the planet. These elephants are herbivores, which means that they will not eat anything that is considered to be meat, such as other animals. They live on roots, leaves, grass, and fruit. The Asian elephant lives up to 60 years in the wild. In a single day, these species of elephants can eat close to 300 pounds of food. When it comes to elephants, the female is called a cow, and the male of the species is called a bull. Most of these animals are hunted because of their tusks, which are made out of ivory.
